Level 3 Early Years Educator
Apprenticeship Standard
Regular Level 3 Childcare EYE Course!
This course requires a significant time commitment, up to 18 months in total for full-time participants and up to 33 months for those working part-time.
Entry Requirements:
- Currently working in a role that follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
- Regularly conducting child observations and delivering planned activities for children under 5 years old
- Seeking to enhance skills in promoting children's physical, emotional, and social development
Course Breakdown
The course is divided into two main parts:
Part 1: Main Course Content
- 15 months for full-time participants; up to 30 months for part-time participants.
- Development of skills, knowledge, and behaviours throughout the apprenticeship.
Completion Requirements:
- A FULL and relevant Level 3 Standard qualification
- English and Maths Functional Skills (Level 2)
- Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualification
Part 2: Gateway and End Point Assessment
- 3 months
- A 50-minute in-person observation whilst they are in ratio, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session
- A Professional Discussion around the knowledge, skills and behaviours they have developed during their apprenticeship, which we practice with them in Gateway!
As part of the Level 3 childcare course, apprentices will benefit from phone and email support from their Parenta tutor if there’s anything at all they need help with.

Entry Requirements:
- Employer Involvement: You must be present during any learner(s) onboarding call and attend every review.
- Maths Requirements for Learners: Learners need a Level 2 in Maths (or equivalent) or must be ready to take a supervised initial assessment on BKSB, scoring Level 1.5 or higher. If learners require maths support and meet the above criteria, they must engage in weekly coursework through the online platform.
- Practice Requirements for Learners: Learners must have an established group of Key Children in practice, ideally with around three months of OPA observation, assessment, and planning.
- Learning Commitments: Learners must commit to attending one live teaching session per theme.
- Time Commitment: To complete the fast-track Level 3 apprenticeship within the accelerated timeframe, learners will need to commit to extra off-the-job hours each week.

- Learners must consistently complete weekly assignments and participate in online coursework, especially if maths support is needed.
- Attendance at one live teaching session per theme is mandatory to ensure all essential topics are covered.
Part 2: Gateway and End Point Assessment
- Observation: A 50-minute in-person observation while learners are in ratio, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session.
- Professional Discussion: A structured conversation around the knowledge, skills, and behaviours learners have developed during the apprenticeship, practiced with them as part of the Gateway process!

Do I Need To Attend Classes?
Great news – there are no physical classes to attend at a college, but you will be required to attend virtual teaching and learning sessions that we provide. You will have regular contact with your Parenta tutor either remotely or face to face to observe you at work and check you’re fulfilling the course requirements.
Your tutor will set you course work to complete on OneFile our e-learning platform and will agree submission timings with you. It is important that you meet your submission deadlines to ensure you complete your qualification on time.
